Metal Roof Replacement in Bossley Park

Bossley Park is one of the larger suburbs we cover at 15,492 people, sitting in the City of Fairfield about nine kilometres from our base.

It was rural land until after the Second World War, when it was subdivided and settled heavily by Italian migrant families who built and extended their own houses over the decades that followed.

That history shows on the roofs. The houses here have been added to more thoroughly than almost anywhere else we work, and the additions were generally built solidly rather than thrown up, which changes what we are dealing with.

The bulk is brick housing from the 1960s through the 1980s under concrete tile, on blocks noticeably larger than the estate suburbs further west.

Substantial additions are the defining feature: full second storeys, large rear extensions, enclosed outdoor areas and garages built to the same standard as the house rather than tacked on.

That means the junctions here are usually well built, which is good, and it means there are a lot of them, which is the cost. A house that has grown twice has two generations of flashing on it, at two different ages.

Large outbuildings are common on these blocks, and many of them are big enough to be a proper roofing job in their own right rather than an afterthought at the end of one.
